The saying Between the Devil and Deep Blue Sea is a nautical saying. The rigging over the bow of old sailing ships was a dangerous job but the only thing there was a rope bridge. If you fell you were most likely dead, thus the saying was born. It is like being a rock and hard place.

Jazz Fenton is this situation. She decided to try a doifferent approach with ghost fighting, ghost were people once. Maybe if they tried to understand them, they could stop the attacks and thus protect Danny.

Ember McLain has returned from the ghost zone, so Sam and Jazz tried to see if they make friends with her. If they fail at this, then Danny can come in and put her in the thermos.

I mean what can be worse than Ember hating you...

It appears that it is Ember is liking you. Now they have a problem with their new best friend. It can't end well for Jazz. If Ember takes her new BFF's back to the ghost zone as ghosts, Jazz will be stuck with Ember who loves her and Sam who hates her forever and ever. If only Jazz gets sent, Jazz will be stuck with Ember. If Sam gets sent into the ghost zone, then Jazz will have two ghosts Ember and Sam getting her revenge on Jazz. If Danny shows up and saves them, Sam may send Jazz into the ghost zone for her brillant idea.

I love the way Jazz looks nervous, she can be scared of either Ember or Sam. I like how lighting came off the tape for this.

The original title for this piece was "Between the Devil and Deep Blue Sea for Jazz"

When I concieved it just had Sam looking terrified at the overfriendly Ember. Cursing Jazz to damnation. Then I thought add Jazz to the mix, the picture just became very funny it is one of favorites on the gallery

This was a request for me. The concept was I was fooling around with, the method was inspired by your request. I originally conceived it as just Sam thinking she was going to get Jazz for this. I little tweeking and viola the finish work which I think is funnier with Jazz there

It was funny with Sam only. Then I start doodling Jazz and the concept just jelled completely
